I set on the Eagle Sing Singers Drum (Dighton Oak Tree Intertribal Council) and the Metis Federation Drum (Eastern New England Metis Council) and this Saturday we have a day of crafts and also will be drumming. Trois Rivers, Is a area my ancesters dwelled, during their migration to St. Fidele, Quebec. I'm a St. Lawrence Mohawk and we unlike other Mohawks, traded and befriended the Abenaki and Algonquin. It's a small world!
Dear Mr. Young. I hail from Florida at this time. I say at this time as one never knows which way the wind blows in life. It is a pleasure to be on this web site with other metis. Thank you for the invite.
Member of the Eastern New England Metis 13 Moons Turtle Clan I hold the position as an elder for the group. I remarried after my previous wife past over two years ago.
I've held a membership with Communaute Metisse De L'Est Du Canada. My heritage is Algonquin & French Canadian from the (Trois-Rivieres) three rivers area of Quebec. My heritage goes back to 16 April 1657 when Pierre Couc dit Lafleur a french solder and interepreter from the M. de Froment's married Marie Mite8ameg8k8e (Pronounced: mee-tee-wa-mee-gou-kwee) who was reported to be Algonquin or Algonkin from a group in the Ottawa and the St-Maurice rivers in Quebec "Nations des Ouionontateronon" which means Weskarini Band of the Algonkin Tribe. Then the history trail becomes very interesting to now. I could go on for hours.
StoryTelling:
The story my grandmother told me was that when the agents went to the reservation in Quebec it was stated that since you were of mix blood, part french then we could live as white. They then removed the family from the reservation. The family moved to Winsocki, Vermont and at that time the famiy was not allowed to speak the Algonquin or french language. My grandfather when he was drunk every Friday evening would sit in the middle of the kitchen and speak Algonquin. Many times I would ask my grandmother what he was saying, only to be told it was bad words. To be shut off from knowing our heritage was hard on me and my brothers and sisters. Today I spend lots of time and effort learning about my family's past and my heritage.
Metis Coming Events:

Metis Interests:
Just being a part of the process and knowing that I have other people who are Metis and being proud of it.
