Enrolled member of the Turtle Mountain Chippewa/Metis located in Belcourt, North Dakota, grew up on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation, went on relocation in the 1950's and 1960's with my parents and siblings to California 3 different times. Ended up in Western Montana and lived there most of my life, family of artists, musicians, love to cook traditional foods, grew up in a Metis family and still cook our food alost every week,gallete, bangs, macaroni soup I love to bake and preserve and dry food
Metis Family History:
My parents are both Metis one grew up in Belcourt and one in Trenton North Dakota, My mom is a fluent speaker and my dad was raised in a Wahpton Boarding School. We were taught the traditions of music, food, Catholicism, stories to make us behave, rugaroos, lenten traditions, wedding traditions . New Year celebrations, hunting , cures and medicines, superstitions

We were raised on these stories and still tell them to my grandkids.
